A Carotid Endarterectomy means removal of a blockage from the Carotid artery (which supplies blood to the brain) by an operation.

- It is performed under anesthesia in the operating
- A cut of about 6 cm is placed on the neck.
- The culprit plaque (blockage) is removed.
- The artery is repaired either directly or with the patch.


After care and Follow up:
- Patients should take care of the wound.
- Dressing must not get wet or soiled.
- Sutures are removed after 10 days.
- Rest at home for a week.
- Continue all medications and diet as advised.
