Suzuki Motor Corporation and SkyDrive Inc. have teamed up to manufacture flying cars at a Suzuki-owned facility in Iwata City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

These flying cars also referred to as eVTOLs, are electric and autonomous, aiming to revolutionize urban transportation. The partnership commenced in June 2023 and involves producing the SkyDrive (SD-05 type) model through SkyDrive’s subsidiary Sky Works Inc.

An eVTOL, or electric vertical take-off and landing flying car, resembles a small drone with three seats and operates similarly to a helicopter. It can vertically take off and land and includes features such as Autopilot for self-governing operations. These flying cars are anticipated to evolve into "Air Taxis" in the future, offering a solution to urban traffic congestion.

As cities grapple with increasing traffic congestion, there is a growing interest in alternative modes of transportation. Air taxis present a promising solution, enabling swift inter-city travel while bypassing ground traffic congestion.
