Eyes: Wear chemical splash safety glasses or goggles with side protection based on assessment of the risk to the eyes or face. In some workplaces, face coverings may be appropriate. Use eyewear that has been tested and approved to appropriate government standards such as OSHA 29 CFR 1910.133 or EU EN166.
Hands: Glove selection is based on an evaluation of possible hazards to hands and skin, duration of use, physical conditions of the workplace, and the chemical resistance and physical properties of the glove material.
Skin and Body: Protective clothing must be selected based on the hazards present in the workplace, the physical environment, duration of exposure, and other factors. No one fabric can provide protection against all potential hazards; therefore, it is important to select the appropriate protective clothing for each specific hazard. At a minimum, wear a lab coat and open-toed shoes.
Respiratory System: Respirators are not a substitute for generally accepted engineering controls such as enclosed or restricted operations, general and local ventilation, and substitution of less toxic materials. Use NIOSH or CEN certified respirators when respiratory personal protective equipment is appropriate based on an assessment of workplace respiratory hazards.
